Your Specific Responsibilities:

Performing pre-analytical duties such as specimens sorting, accession, storing in Serology laboratory’s sections as needed.

 

Performs duties of the laboratory electronic results records system (LabWare) for the Miami Laboratory. Communicate with supervisors and staff to resolve LabWare problems. Prepares necessary reports on current program activities for the Bureau of Laboratories as required or directed by the Laboratory Director.

 

Perform quality control, quality assurance activities for the departments as needed.

 

Assist in monitoring laboratory’s software/ hardware equipment to sustain compliance with laboratory’s accreditation requirements in various sections.

 

Maintain supply levels as necessary for uninterrupted service delivery.

 

Perform send out of specimens for referral testing when required. Prepares and discards daily medical waste following Bureau of Laboratories bio-waste protocol. Attends staff meetings and required training and follows Bureau of Laboratories and Department of Health safety policies.

 

Perform other laboratory duties as required.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of terminology, principles and techniques used in analysis and testing. 

Knowledge of procedures, techniques & equipment used in lab testing and analysis. 

Skill in the use of lab equipment.  Ability to communicate effectively. 

Ability to work independently.

Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.

Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum: Medical Technologist or Public Health Licensure

Preferred: Bachelor’s in science
