Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Project Manager based in Orange, CA to lead and execute interdisciplinary port projects and will include a broad range of customer and project types. The role will be responsible for managing scope, schedule, and budget of projects across the project lifecycle - from conceptual studies to full design and construction administration. Responsible for planning and managing project staffing requirements, reporting project performance, and identifying and addressing scope creep, schedule, or quality issues to ensure a successful delivery of assigned projects. Client facing, primary interface with customers to include our contractor partners (In-House or external general contractors) on projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Working with interdisciplinary technical leads in coordinated successful execution of projects in design and construction
  • Acting as a primary point of contact with client
  • Delivering positive financial metrics including as sold profit, billings, and collection management
  • Successfully developing strategy, mitigation efforts, proposals, contract review, and leading project teams to execute projects
  • Provides technical support for a variety of design related projects, including site civil, utilities and electrical designs.
  • Coordinates multi-discipline design efforts
  • Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team, and mentor of junior staff.
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
  • Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
  • Prepares technical specification sections.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 - 20 years of experience in site planning and design, including project analysis, feasibility and budgeting
  • Registration as a CA Professional Engineer
  • Experience working for local and/or federal agencies
  • Experience working on Port projects
  • Experience in shore to ship power systems design
  • Technical proficiency in civil engineering design and analysis,
  • Proficient with CAD and design software
  • National and International travel may be required
  • Strong written and oral communication, quantitative and interpersonal skills
  • Strong work ethic and professional demeanor
  • Proactive on assignments and demonstrate initiative
  • Must work independently with minimal supervision, and complete multiple technical tasks under tight deadlines
  • Experience in implementing design quality assurance and quality control activities
  • Ability to interact regularly and professionally with senior management and technical staff in other offices on business development and project execution issues
  • Proven organizational skills with a proven track record in client satisfaction while meeting deliverables and deadline requirements
  • Experience working on or managing contracts

  • Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $123,000-225,000/yr.
