About the role

The Production Prep team member is responsible for supporting manufacturing operations in the back plant. This role involves metal fabrication, including cutting, drilling, and punching, as well as welding (certification preferred but not required). The position requires cross-training across multiple production tasks to ensure seamless workflow and efficiency in the fabrication of door headers and other components. 

Key Responsibilities  

  • Perform metal fabrication tasks such as cutting, drilling, and punching metal components for door headers. 
  • Utilize welding techniques to assemble and reinforce metal structures (welding certification preferred but not required). 
  • Operate hand and power tools, as well as machinery, in accordance with safety guidelines. 
  • Inspect fabricated parts to ensure quality standards are met. 
  • Follow work orders, blueprints, and production specifications accurately. 
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote safety and efficiency. 
  • Assist in other production-related tasks as required. 
  • Adhere to company safety protocols and industry best practices. 
  • Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to meet production goals. 

Skills & Abilities 
 

  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and metal fabrication equipment. 
  • Basic welding skills (MIG, TIG, or Stick welding experience preferred but not required). 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical drawings. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work. 
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve minor fabrication issues. 
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills. 

 

Education 
 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Previous experience in metal fabrication, welding, or industrial manufacturing preferred. 
  • Experience working with metal cutting, drilling, and punching machinery is a plus. 
  • Willingness to undergo training and cross-train in multiple production areas. 
     

Work Environment 

  • Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures. 
  • Work performed around machinery, tools, and moving equipment. 
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required, including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection as necessary. 
  • Fast-paced environment requiring adaptability and teamwork. 

 

Physical Demands  

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: 

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching. 
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs independently. 
  • Use of hands and arms to handle materials, tools, and equipment. 
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods. 
  • Occasional climbing or working from heights may be required. 
  • Visual acuity to inspect work and read specifications.
