About the team

What you’ll do

Stripe Terminal helps our users extend their online presence to the physical world. The Terminal team’s mission is to make it as easy for businesses to accept in-person payments as the Stripe API has done for online payments. 

The Device Payments team is looking for a manager to lead and help grow a strong team of engineers. You will continue to build our payment platform and products like Tap to Pay, introducing new devices, supporting new payment kernels, and more. You will work closely with mobile, embedded, and backend engineers, product, and our customers to build and enhance this product.  You will hire and develop engineers, and play a key role in setting and executing on an ambitious roadmap, while maintaining and improving the quality of our in person payments platform.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of applications and services on Stripe’s Android Platform.
• Be actively involved in strategic direction and influence platform decisions by engaging with product / support teams and working with our hardware teams
• Develop engineers on the team, helping them advance in their careers
• Empower the engineering team to achieve a high level of technical productivity, reliability and simplicity
• Recruit engineers that are amongst the best in the industry

Minimum requirements

• 6+ years of experience in engineering, including technical leadership experience as an individual contributor
• Deep payments expertise or knowledge, including details of PCI specifications like MPOC
• Experience with building great Android applications and services
• Strong collaboration skills especially with application and embedded engineers, product managers, and backend API teams to effectively deliver best in class solutions
• The ability to thrive with a high level of autonomy and responsibility
• Leverage your strong technical background and hands-on experience in solving large scale and difficult technical problems
• Custom hardware experience on Android platform
