Job Summary:

As a Waste Water Treatment Operator at Volvo Cars, you will assume responsibility and accountability for the efficient and compliant operations of the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). This position will be a second shift position.  Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring the proper functioning of the WWTP in accordance with State, Federal, and County rules and regulations. This includes forecasting and facilitating required wastewater and safety training, participating in regulatory inspections and compliance audits, and collaborating with environmental management and other departments to plan activities affecting WWTP operation.

In addition to overseeing plant operations, you will be responsible for maintaining inventory levels of treatment chemicals and supplies, offloading tanker deliveries, and complying with record-keeping requirements. Your role will involve keeping data on plant parameters and operations, reporting to upper management as requested, and supporting the maintenance of plant equipment and systems. It is crucial to apprise upper management of any issues that may impact WWTP operations promptly.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assume responsibility and accountability for WWTP operations
  • Ensure proper operation of the wastewater treatment plant in compliance with State, Federal, and County regulations
  • Forecast and facilitate required wastewater (CEU) and safety training
  • Participate in and assist with regulatory inspections and compliance audits
  • Collaborate with environmental management and other departments for planning activities affecting WWTP operation
  • Maintain inventory levels of treatment chemicals and supplies
  • Offload tanker deliveries
  • Comply with and update all record-keeping requirements
  • Maintain data on plant parameters and operation; report to upper management as requested
  • Support the maintenance of plant equipment and systems
  • Apprise upper management of any issues impacting WWTP operations
  • Perform any other required tasks as specified by supervision

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Current and valid South Carolina Physical/Chemical Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator license (B level minimum)
  • Thorough experience in automobile manufacturing preferred
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders, and lift 33 lbs
  • Proficient in computer software (Microsoft Office apps) and ability to learn process operating system (EMES)
  • Professional and conscientious interaction with team members
  • Willingness to work non-standard work weeks and overtime to support production and maintenance requirements
