Purpose of Role

The Associate, Community & Network Impact will support the MBK Leadership Network by planning, tracking and managing the execution of core workstreams, projects, events, and special initiatives across My Brother’s Keeper’s national network of communities. This role will keep internal and external stakeholders aware of deadlines and assist subject matter experts in making contributions to systems that are needed to manage a national network.

The Associate will be responsible for projects relating to MBKA’s online platform, network convenings and in-person events. Strong knowledge of project management methodologies within the non-profit sector in order to keep projects running smoothly, on time and within budget will be important to the success of the Network and to the person occupying this role.

As the Associate, Community & Network Impact, you’ll be reporting directly to the Deputy Director, Community & Network Impact.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Support the development and implementation of project plans that ensure the delivery of key resources and engagement opportunities to the MBK Leadership Network.

    • Maintain documentation and organization of action commitments across the internal team. 

    • Liaise with the necessary internal  Obama Foundation departments such as Legal, Finance, or Creative and Comms to manage expectations, ensure their timely and accurate support, and share project updates.

    • Help to instill accountability to team timelines and budgets in pursuit of MBKA’s broader goal of improving cradle to career outcomes for Boys and Young Men of Color.

    • Anticipate potential risks and present solutions for the timely execution of a project or task.

    • Identify resource needs and budget requirements for all projects.

  • Facilitation of Meetings: Facilitate meetings where roles, responsibilities, and due dates are assigned, ensuring successful project delivery.

  • Convenings and Events Management: Contribute to the planning and execution of  virtual and in-person events including occasional “front of room” facilitation.  

  • Reporting - Draft or present program area proposals and progress reports for internal and external audiences.

  • Vetting incoming requests for MBKA demonstration projects

    • Conducting initial intakes of inquiries

    • Producing summaries for MBK Leadership Team for consideration

  • On time delivery of projects and initiatives.

  • Strategic thinking around future priorities and plans.

  • Streamlined communication between stakeholders across the organization and beyond.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience holding others accountable to deadlines.

  • Experience writing project plans, budgets, and timelines.

  • Experience managing projects in the nonprofit sector, PMP Certification or desire to achieve in the future.

  • Passionate about changing the trajectory of life outcomes for Boys and Young Men of Color.

  • Excellent emotional intelligence.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Highly organized with attention to detail.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in using Salesforce, Asana and Google Suite.


 

The salary range for this role is between $59,755 and $74,670.
