Sellers Dorsey’s Southeast region practice group collaborates with practice leaders to develop, refine, and bring new products and services to the market, identifying potential targets for acquisitions and leveraging policy and healthcare expertise to create new solutions and needs for the Firm. They support a portfolio involving financial and policy initiatives connected to supplemental payment projects in the Medicaid Financing and Strategic Consulting portfolio. They also work on engagements from program design to implementation, collaborating with clients and team members on initiatives in Medicaid financing, managed care, and provider policy and reimbursement.


About the Role


Sellers Dorsey's Southeast region practice group is seeking an Associate Consultant ideally based in Florida to support the timely and effective delivery of client services. This entry level position is the first step in a career path for future personal and professional growth at the firm. As an Associate Consultant, you will develop skills relating to healthcare policy, strategy, reimbursement and project management. Your responsibilities include supporting Directors, Associate Directors, Senior Consultants and Consultants as part of a team, including coordinating action items across the internal team, preparing for and debriefing internal and external meetings, tracking next steps, and researching policies including state/federal laws and regulations to understand current issues and health reform priorities. As an Associate Consultant, you will also conduct topical research, draft written and oral summaries of analyses, and provide support for other project management related tasks as needed.


This role potentially requires some travels.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and debrief internal and external meetings as directed by the Director, Associate Director, and Senior Consultant.
  • Maintain and organize client deliverables and project timelines in an accessible and shared drive for all team members.
  • Assist with meeting, conference, panel, etc. planning and coordination.
  • Assume increasing levels of responsibility related to project and client management as directed by the Director, Associate Director, and Senior Consultant.
  • Achieve personal performance goals and build relationships/mentorships with other staff.
  • During client facing meetings, draft client deliverables as directed by the Director, Associate Director, and Senior Consultant.
  • Research federal and state regulatory policies and keep up to date on state/federal/industry trends.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, health policy, public policy or a related discipline required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience in health care or human services is preferred.
  • Knowledge of state health agencies, e.g., Medicaid, public health, health insurance, and the Affordable Care Act is a plus.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Medicaid financing is a real plus.
  • Working knowledge of Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.

Other Requirements

  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills including ability to produce concise summaries of technical material and develop client deliverables.
  • Demonstrated secondary research skills including knowledge of major publicly-available resources useful to background research for Medicaid and other healthcare programs.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment.
  • Highly efficient, flexible, and motivated.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
