Summary Statement: Responsible for the safety, quality, productivity, labor efficiency, housekeeping, facility and equipment utilization for Weld and supervision of hourly employees on the assigned shift.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
- Supervise production activities, employees, and material handling.
- Communicate effectively with workers, managers, shift supervisors and staff personnel.
- Manage performance measurements, update daily metrics tracking system, and provide regular progress reports to the Plant Manger
- Provide guidance, direction, instruction, and disciplinary actions for personnel.
- Ensure quality and process audit findings are addressed and resolved affectively and timely.
- Facilitate troubleshooting and resolve problems as needed based on knowledge of all manufacturing processes, techniques and related equipment, product construction and application as well as production scheduling and plant operations.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervise hourly production employees. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws. Use appropriate judgment in upward communication regarding department or employee concerns. Responsibilities include participating in the interviewing and hiring process; training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications/Special Skills and Abilities
- Interpersonal skills necessary to lead, train, supervise, communicate, and work effectively with others.
- Ability to independently resolve problems encountered.
- Maintain a working knowledge of company policies and procedures.
- Maintain a working knowledge of production processes, materials, and equipment capabilities.
- Good skills with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook email.
- Safely operate a forklift to load/unload material as needed.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing with 3 years in supervision; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
EVALUATED ON
- Meeting supervisory performance standards
- Managing hourly personnel to meet/exceed production, quality, and safety requirements.
- Achieving quality objectives: OTD, labor productivity, and scrap & returns reduction.
