Collins Aerospace Cabin Monuments & Integration Engineering is looking for an Associate Director to lead the Engineering Projects organization. The ideal candidate is a highly engaged, hands-on engineering leader who has a passion for developing talent and collaborating with others to solve challenging problems. In this role you will lead your engineering team to create products that will be installed on thousands of passenger aircraft over the next ten years.

The Engineering Projects team is responsible for:

  • Technical success as well as cost, schedule and risk management performance of projects

  • Execution of trade studies as required

  • Analyzing portfolio problems and to develop recommendations to modify project plans to mitigate and resolve issues.

  • Complete and accurate decomposition of program requirements

  • Chairing program Change Control Board (CCB)

  • Achieving Design to Cost (DTC) goals

  • Supporting market analysis documentation

  • Ensuring alignment between business strategies as the advanced technologies and programs being execute

This role is eligible for relocation support.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the leadership, training, coaching, and oversight of an experienced, highly empowered Engineering Projects team

  • Responsible for staffing and successfully completing lavatories, water solutions, and cabin integration projects, ranging from small retrofit programs to very large new product developments

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with program management, design engineering, verification & validation engineering, and other team members to achieve elegant and reliable solutions

  • Develop professional and technical development plans for the team and act as a coach / mentor

  • Lead your team in implementing continuous improvements

  • Acquire and develop engineering talent through recruiting, hiring, and management processes

  • Review, maintain, and optimize standard work instructions ensuring both process completeness along with process speed

Qualifications/ Experience Needed:

  • Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws / regulations OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 9 years’ experience OR In absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience is required.

  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Leader with a demonstrated record of success leading engineering teams

  • Excellent judgement and professional maturity

  • Clear, concise communication style and attention to detail

  • Experience with bids and proposals

  • Disciplined scope and risk management practices

  • Experience with aircraft interiors product development or sustainment

  • Experience developing project plans, schedules, and budgets for large aircraft development programs

  • Experience decomposing requirements to develop solutions, as well as showing compliance to requirements

  • Experience with the civil aircraft certification process and applicable documents & procedures
