The Team:

The Application Services Team provides technical support for a broad range of clinical systems that manage both demographic and clinical data. We are responsible for the ongoing maintenance, optimisation and lifecycle management of application systems across the Tasmanian Health Service, with a strong focus on system integration and interoperability to enable seamless and secure data exchange.

Our team comprises highly skilled technical specialists and business advisors who partner closely with stakeholders to support and deliver ICT initiatives aligned with the Department of Health’s strategic direction. Through this expertise, we ensure that clinical applications and integration services remain reliable, secure and interoperable, supporting the evolving needs of healthcare delivery and improving outcomes for patients and clinicians.

As Tasmania continues its significant Digital Transformation journey, including the progressive rollout and optimisation of a statewide Electronic Medical Record (EMR), the team plays a critical role in enabling connected, data-driven care. Our integration services underpin the EMR ecosystem, ensuring clinical information flows seamlessly across systems, sites and care settings.

The Role:

• Play a key role in enabling seamless, secure and reliable system integration across Tasmania’s public health environment. As an Application Integration Specialist, you will work within a highly skilled technical team responsible for designing, implementing and supporting integration services that connect clinical applications across a complex, state-wide ecosystem.

• This is a hands-on technical role with meaningful impact. You will contribute to the delivery and continuous improvement of integration platforms, interfaces and data exchange solutions that ensure critical systems can communicate effectively and support patient care, operational services and business outcomes. Leveraging your expertise, you will help analyse requirements, design integration solutions, and troubleshoot complex issues within a 24×7 environment.

• Working closely with stakeholders, vendors and technical teams, you will provide specialist advice, technical leadership and guidance to ensure integration services are robust, scalable and aligned with enterprise architecture and standards. You will play an important role in enhancing interoperability, improving service delivery and supporting the evolving digital health landscape.

You will need:

• Proven record of achievement in delivering innovative integration solutions, services and/or expert technical support within a complex ICT environment, including system interfaces, middleware or API-based integrations.

• ‘Can-do approach’ demonstrated by a successful track record of working collaboratively with technical specialists, vendors and non-technical stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes and foster a positive team culture.

• Strong conceptual and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated experience in analysing requirements, designing and implementing integration solutions, and resolving complex technical issues in fast-paced and evolving environments.

• Experience in planning, coordinating and delivering integration-related initiatives or projects, including managing risks, stakeholders and competing priorities to achieve successful outcomes.

• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate complex technical integration concepts into clear, meaningful information for business and clinical audiences.

• Experience in clinical systems integration standards such as HL7 and FHIR-based will be highly regarded
