Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Office SME / Business Operations Lead to support our federal healthcare client in driving operational excellence across business functions. This role will lead strategic planning and execution for procurement, budgeting, program management, contract administration, workplace strategy, and digital modernization initiatives that enable mission success and enhance workforce engagement. The preferred candidate would need to demonstrate working expertise in government budgeting and procurement processes, portfolio management, as well as financial risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Acquisition Support: Assist staff in preparing procurement documentation, reviewing Statements of Work, tracking acquisition timelines, and coordinating with contracting specialists.
  • Budget Activities: Provide support with budget tracking, data entry, reconciliation, and preparing summaries or updates for internal use.
  • CIF Tracking Assistance: Help monitor CIF allocations and expenditures, gather backup documentation, and support updates to tracking logs or dashboards.
  • Onboarding/Offboarding Support: Help coordinate onboarding checklists, access requests, property survey forms, and offboarding logistics for incoming and departing personnel.
  • Travel Assistance: Assist with preparing travel requests, compiling approval packages, tracking status, and ensuring compliance with travel policy requirements.
  • Document Management: Help organize and maintain acquisition calendars, shared folders, templates, and file directories to support transparency and version control.
  • Training Support: Assist in scheduling training sessions, updating internal guides or SOPs, and tracking participation for onboarding and process-related sessions.
  • Presentation Preparation: Support team members in drafting, formatting, or reviewing presentation materials, including slides and summary handouts for leadership meetings.
  • Lead and manage comprehensive business operations, including procurement, budget oversight, PMO functions, contract management, and hybrid workplace implementation.
  • Drive strategic planning and coordination for digital modernization and workforce engagement initiatives across the client’s division.
  • Develop data-driven justifications and secure executive leadership buy-in to grow and manage multimillion-dollar budgets and capital funding programs.
  • Implement supplier performance programs such as scorecards and KPIs to improve vendor accountability and optimize billing cycles.
  • Oversee governance and asset management for a large inventory of devices and assets, improving inventory accuracy and reducing losses.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and executive leadership to ensure alignment with organizational goals and compliance with federal regulations.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance operational efficiencies and support evolving client mission requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Operations Management, Information Technology, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience managing complex business operations, enterprise financial systems, and multimillion-dollar budgets in federal or large enterprise settings.
  • Demonstrated expertise in budget development, capital funding management, and financial oversight.
