As a Director of Engineering for Content Safety, you will work with executive leadership, product, policy and operations teams across the Group and company. Your purpose would be to proactively identify and prevent any content or behavior that violates our policies. You will build systems that can detect issues in real time from predatory behavior to inappropriate content targeting our user base. You will do this using deep learning techniques spanning across computer vision for content understanding, code analysis, graph and network analysis, and deep NLP challenges to understand nuances of context for different ages, countries and experiences. You will report into the VP of Trust and Safety.

You Will:

• Defy boundaries to advocate for and provide solutions that live in organizational blind spots. Tactfully respecting your coworkers while helping us discover insights alluding to us.
• Raise the bar for the team by hiring world class ML and full stack engineers, and mentoring the team to tackle some of the toughest issues that no one has solved before.

You Have:

• 10 years of career experience shipping incredible products to your users that led to significant business impact
• A strong knowledge of: diverse distributed systems running across distributed global data centers, massive data analysis, strong knowledge of machine learning algorithms and classifiers for text, images, 3-dimensional colorful objects and much much more. You will become an expert across one of the more technically sophisticated products today.
• A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as math, statistics, and computer science, or equivalent years of experience

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.  All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.Annual Salary Range$440,190—$505,110 USD
