Compensation: Starts at $100,000 annually (higher based on experience)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Automation & Controls Engineer to support and improve manufacturing systems within a regulated production environment. This role focuses on maintaining automation infrastructure, supporting capital projects, and ensuring systems operate efficiently while meeting compliance and quality standards.

This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of key systems while working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.

Primary Responsibilities

Automation Projects & System Development

  • Support automation and controls initiatives from planning through implementation
  • Assist with defining project scope, timelines, technical requirements, and vendor coordination
  • Program, configure, and test PLCs, HMIs, SCADA platforms, and drive systems
  • Provide technical support for electrical components tied to automation projects
  • Troubleshooting & Technical Support

    • Diagnose and resolve issues within PLC-controlled systems and SCADA environments
    • Troubleshoot drives, instrumentation, control panels, and industrial networks
    • Identify opportunities for system improvements to increase reliability and performance
    • System Reliability & Compliance

      • Maintain automation systems in a validated and compliant state
      • Support system backups, documentation, and data integrity processes
      • Assist with system upgrades, recovery efforts, and vendor interactions
      • Change Control & Documentation

        • Participate in change management activities for system updates
        • Help establish and maintain control system standards
        • Support audits and technical reviews as needed
        • Safety & Regulatory Compliance

          • Follow all safety procedures and adhere to cGMP requirements
          • Complete required training related to compliance and technical systems

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field
  • 5–10 years of experience working with industrial automation or control systems
  • Experience in regulated or cGMP environments preferred
  • Technical Skills

    • Hands-on experience with PLC programming and SCADA systems
    • Familiarity with HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, and industrial electrical components
    • Strong troubleshooting experience with industrial control systems and networks
    • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively

Work Environment

  • May require occasional after-hours or emergency support in a 24/5 operation
  • Work performed around industrial equipment and electrical systems
  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs. while using appropriate PPE
