Job Description

The Retail Construction Project Manager works cross functionally with a range of stakeholders while managing the critical path for Vuori’s physical Retail expansion. The Construction Project Manager will manage remodels, relocations, and the new store development process from pre-construction planning through project turnover. The Construction Project Manager is responsible for successfully managing budgets, timelines, and all other deliverables ensuring there is a seamless transition from construction to the new store opening and merchandising phase of the project.  

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead, plan and manage multiple complex construction projects concurrently. Be able to manage multiple projects (up to 8) in different geographies simultaneously, at various stages. 
  • Collaborate with key project stakeholders in the construction and maintenance of our Retail Stores including Retail Operations, Finance and our Executive Team. 
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and ability to effectively manage stakeholder expectations, project scope and change management via weekly progress calls. 
  • Prepare order of magnitude cost estimates with reasonable accuracy. 
  • Assist in preparation of project budgets and capital improvement project projections. 
  • Review and qualify General Contractor bid proposals for recommendations to award contracts.  
  • Communicate with Landlords and General Contractors to confirm space delivery of possession. 
  • Obtain Landlord approval of construction documents for assigned projects.  
  • Ensure timely delivery of weekly reports by the General Contractor.  
  • Manage outside vendors (Fixtures, Signage, Racking…) to ensure accuracy and timely delivery of FFE per established project schedule. 
  • Track daily process, identify and resolve issues throughout the project. 
  • Conduct regular site visits to successfully manage the project schedule, verify construction quality standards are met, and to ensure timely turnover to the Retail Operations team.  
  • Monitor and review contractors' work as it relates to budget, schedule, and Vuori’s standards. 
  • Provides timely and accurate updates to the management team regarding project status, budget, and schedule.  
  • Prepare and monitor cost estimates, budget updates, change order reports. 
  • Responsible for holding internal and external stakeholders accountable for deliverables. Provide timelines and manage deadlines with cross-functional departments to ensure timely store opening. 
  • Schedule and lead operational project team meetings and ensure follow-up of action items in support of new store openings. Resolve cross-functional issues at project level. 
  • Represent Vuori to external partners and stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors, regulatory agencies, etc. on a variety of issues related to project development and delivery.  
  • Maintain and monitor the progress of punch lists.   
  • Review and approve specific project pay applications and invoices ensuring compliance with established project budgets.     
  • Perform postmortem reports upon completion of each project; evaluate the success of each project and determine best practices. 
  • Drive and manage the completion of the project closeout effort including all punch lists, warranty letters, final lien waiver collection, as-built drawings and any necessary documentation for tenant allowance requests.  

Qualifications

  • Six or more years' general contractor or construction related experience with three of the years being in a management role. 
  • Demonstrate understanding and successful application of general construction terminology and processes. 
  • Proven track record of managing multiple projects, simultaneously 
  • Ability to plan and manage projects with tight and shifting timelines.  
  • Read and interpret detailed construction drawings and specifications and communicate findings with project teams. 
  • Detail oriented and organized.  
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.  
  • Independent, self-motivated, team player.  
  • Able to effectively communicate
