The Azure Kubernetes Service (https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/services/kubernetes-service/), i.e., AKS, team is creating a world-class container management and orchestration services for the cloud and beyond. We are the team working on container solutions for Azure on both Linux and Windows.

Responsibilities

  • Willing to dive deeply into any level or layer of a problem.
  • Willing to learn emerging technologies, from software to hardware. Evaluate and make recommendations that advance Azure Kubernetes Service.
  • Advance the capabilities of Kubernetes and auxiliary components on Azure.
  • Improve the quality of service for Azure Kubernetes Service.
  • Build automation to prevent and/or remediate service problems from becoming production incidents.
  • Maintains communication with partners across the Microsoft ecosystem of engineers. Ensures alignment with partners' expectations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Golang or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of coding experiences around Kubernetes, container infrastructures.
  • 2+ years of experience of operating and maintaining distributed infrastructure.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR master’s degree in computer science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience in modern monitoring/configuration management systems, or AI/ML applications.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
