Primary Duties: 

 

The Associate Director Indirect Procurement – Research and Technology executes corporate sourcing initiatives and global strategies for all areas of research and technology, clinical development, regulatory affairs, and product strategy, delivering significant value to the business in the areas of supply assurance, quality, delivery, cost, and innovation. This position will drive strategic sourcing solutions through a consultative approach in support of optimizing Spark’s Total Cost of Ownership. The Sourcing capability covers the core procurement activities from category management, strategic and operational sourcing, supplier management, content strategy definition, and execution. This position will liaise with cross-functional business partners and operating leaders across the organization to drive continuous improvement within the category by delivering creative, value-added business results through superior execution. The development of these collaborative relationships with stakeholders will foster early involvement of Procurement in the sourcing process, optimized negotiations, and compliance with all applicable policies. This role is a key member of the Procurement Team and will report into the Director of Indirect Procurement.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Communicate and execute the procurement strategy across all research and technology materials and service categories. Includes comprehensive accountability for strategic sourcing, category management, contract management, risk management, stakeholder management, the procure to pay process, and supplier relationship management.
  • Partner with Roche, utilizing the global footprint to leverage the team’s annual spend.
  • Lead the procurement activities to support the implementation of indirect strategic sourcing projects. This role will manage the designated category to ensure supply security, drive productivity, and support the continuous improvement and growth agenda of Spark.
  • Implement supplier relationship strategies to optimize performance, quality, and cost-effectiveness across our research supplier network.
  • Establish an effective partnership with the associated Business Partners, sharing the ownership and accountability in meeting the agreed upon deliverables. Categories include but are not limited to Research & Technology, Clinical Development, Product Strategy, and Regulatory Affairs.
  • Execute sourcing strategies to achieve year over year value in savings and risk mitigation with improved supplier performance.
  • Lead multifunctional teams to manage strategic supplier performance to improve execution, establish performance metrics, and drive accountability for service level delivery.
  • Lead de-risk of raw material, equipment, and/or service supply base.
  • Monitor supplier performance against established metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Bring best-in-class insights to influence indirect procurement strategy by leveraging market insights and innovation.
  • Effectively manage category supply base, perform advanced negotiations, and ensure expedient and compliant implementation of contracts.
  • Monitor vendor and internal performance against contracts, industry benchmarks, and previous baselines.
  • Improve operational efficiency and optimize spend through the development of a preferred supplier program.
  • Ensure the use of procurement systems and technologies to manage procurement data, transaction costs, and adherence to internal and external compliance requirements.

 

 

Education and Experience Requirements

 

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of multi-disciplined procurement experience including research and technology and clinical experience.
