$47,607.00 - $93,342.00Position Purpose:
The Student Engagement Coordinator advances student engagement, leadership development, and a sense of belonging by supporting student organizations and their activities.
This role:
- Oversees the student organization recognition process
- Manages financial operations and funding allocations through the Student Activity Fee
- Administers the student engagement platform
- Advises student leaders on event planning and risk management
- Promotes collaborative programming
- Supports a vibrant, inclusive co-curricular environment
As part of the Student Union and Activities team, this position helps shape a dynamic campus culture that fosters student success and community connection.
Key Responsibilities
🏛️ Student Organization Support & Development (40%)
- Manage annual recognition and registration for 80+ student organizations
- Ensure compliance with university and MinnState policies
- Develop and assess training for student leaders and advisors
- Coordinate outreach events like student organization fairs
- Support event planning, risk management, and campus partnerships
💰 Student Activity Fee Advising (25%)
- Oversee the Student Activity Fee Allocation Committee (SAFAC)
- Guide student groups through funding proposals and purchasing procedures
- Monitor fundraising activities and ensure financial compliance
💻 Student Engagement Platform Management (10%)
- Serve as the primary administrator for the student engagement platform
- Maintain system accuracy and provide user training and support
- Optimize workflows and assess platform effectiveness
🎉 Event Planning & Programming Support (10%)
- Advise student organizations on event logistics, budgeting, and inclusivity
- Collaborate on campus-wide events and traditions
- Supervise events as needed in partnership with the Associate Director for Student Life
📊 Assessment (5%)
- Collect and analyze data on student engagement and event participation
- Contribute to strategic planning and annual reporting
🤝 Departmental & Other Duties (10%)
- Participate in Student Union and Activities team initiatives
- Support campus programs and perform duties aligned with university priorities
Salary Range:
$47,607 - $93,342 annually
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Event Planning, Leadership, Business, or related field and 2 years of experience in student activities or event planning
OR
Master’s degree in Higher Education Leadership, Student Affairs, or related field with 1 year of experience in Student Affairs - This position has the ability to substitute professional experience for education
- Experience leading and supervising culturally diverse teams.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with students, colleagues, and campus partners.
- Proven decision-making skills and ability to interpret and apply university and system-wide policies to successfully manage decision-related events and programs.
