About the role

Purpose

The provider will perform independent clinical activities and collaborate with other clinicians and consultants when appropriate to achieve quality patient care and contract compliance. They will support population management and care coordination activities through a team-based approach. The provider will work in partnership and joint accountability with other team members in pursuit of Neighborcare Health’s mission, guiding principles and goals.

In this position you will:

Direct Clinical Work

  • Provide patient-centered preventative care, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic conditions
  • Identify the need for referrals and provide overall care coordination in a team-based setting

Indirect Clinical Work

  • Assure accurate and timely completion of all clinical records
  • Completion of incoming paperwork and tasks for patient care (e.g., interpreting and acting on test results, coordination with internal teams, communication with outside specialists, review of prior authorizations or patient discharges)
  • Provide consultation and feedback on patient care to appropriate back office and front office teams

Required for this job

  • Ability to work in a high pressure, time-sensitive, and complex health care environment
  • Ability to effectively work with individuals of varying ethnicities, socio-economic levels, varying languages, cultures and sexual orientations and gender identities, including experience in working with interpreters in a medical setting
  • Ability to work with patients that have substance use disorders or mental health conditions, including the ability to prescribe medications for opioid use disorders
  • Ability to meet and comply with HIPAA/Confidentiality policies and procedures, including ability to conduct discussion of sensitive nature with staff and patients
  • Ability to build relationships in patient care while maintaining appropriate boundaries
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, on the phone, or over email
  • Ability to develop collaborative working relationships that foster a positive working environment with an emphasis on teamwork
  • Attention to detail and ability to organize, prioritize, and manage time and tasks independently
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (Neighborcare Health uses Epic) and proficiency in email/office applications (Neighborcare Health uses Microsoft Teams and Office 365)

Preferred for this job

  • At least 2 years of clinical practice experience in family medicine, community health/FQHC
  • Fluency in language(s) in addition to English
  • Ability to take on shifts to support the breadth of our medical programs across multiple clinics and sites in the Seattle area
  • Ability to take on shifts at times that support our permanent staff (e.g., availability during summer or winter school breaks, ability to take on last minute shifts when sick call outs)
  • Ability to provide some form of long-acting reversible contraception (e.g., implant or IUD)
  • Experience with motivational interviewing
  • Experience prescribing buprenorphine or other treatments for opioid use disorders, including past completion of a buprenorphine waiver certification course or specific continuing education to satisfy the requirements for the DEA's Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act.  

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited training: Nurse Practitioner program, Physician Assistant Program, or for physicians, completion of School of Medicine and Residency (Allopathic or Osteopathic)
  • Licensed as a physician (MD/DO), with Washington Department of Health
  • Board-Certified
  • Current BLS Certification
  • DEA License issued and active in the State of Washington

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-year of clinical experience in a primary care setting.
