Summary

The Transmission Billing Energy Analyst II/ Sr role involves handling various aspects of billing processes within the Transmission Billing team. Here are some key responsibilities and duties associated with this position:

 

• Billing and Invoicing: The energy analyst is responsible for invoicing customers based on contract terms and conditions, including standard contracts under APS OATT (Open Access Transmission Tariff). Energy analysts manage invoicing dollars for transmission revenue and validation of transmission expense invoiced from other utilities. The energy analyst is responsible for complete invoicing process from invoice creation to general ledger posting and collection.
• Data Analysis and Validation: The energy analyst is responsible for analyzing complex billing system data, ensuring the accuracy of billing data, and correcting any errors. The energy analyst performs key controls and activities for the settlement process, including validation of all billing components, reconciliation to third party data, participant checkout, issuing invoices, and resolving customer discrepancies.   
• Regulatory Compliance: The analyst ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, particularly those set by The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and related to utility transmission. The analyst is responsible for filing applicable regulatory pages for annual FERC filings.
• Technical Ability:  The energy analyst is responsible for understanding and detecting issues within third party billing system while performing billing process. Analyst is also responsible for testing vendor releases related to billing processes. The analyst will use Microsoft Excel extensively and some Power Bi for billing validation purposes.
• Collaboration and Reporting: The analyst works closely with other departments, including accounts receivable and payable, and external customers to ensure billing and financial statement accuracy.  The analyst also works closely with Transmission Operations, Contracts and Federal Regulatory to ensure accurate invoicing and compliance.
• Audit Support and Compliance Requests: The analyst serves as a key point of contact for both internal and external auditors, providing requested billing and financial data while ensuring compliance with audit standards. This includes responding to data requests promptly, often under tight deadlines, and coordinating with relevant departments to fulfill audit requirements efficiently.

Minimum Requirements

 

Transmission Billing Energy Analyst II

• BS degree in Business, Accounting or Finance
• and 2 years' related experience in financial analysis/reporting or data analytics OR advanced degree in applied data analytics, data science or statistics and prior practical related work experience. 
• Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word.

 

Preferred skills, knowledge or qualifications
- Knowledge of the applied use of energy accounting processes and related auditing  techniques. 
- Experience in account reconciliation, energy billing, financial reporting or the applied use of energy accounting processes and related auditing techniques
- Knowledge of risk management procedures
- General knowledge of trading activities and energy products
