About the Opportunity
This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [SC00]
Responsibilities include:
- Executing financial scenario analyses using the UI Planner financial modeling tool to support executive decision-making and understanding of the impact of potential or pending actions or events that the Company may be considering or anticipating – formal and informal peer training on UI Planner will be provided as needed
- Analyzing and communicating the results of financial analyses in a clear, concise, and fact-based manner cognizant of the impact on overall financial and strategic goals of FirstEnergy
- Providing excellent customer service to numerous internal customers by providing timely and accurate information, analysis, and reporting
- Understanding how a myriad of often complex variables impact the long-term financial projections of FirstEnergy
- Supporting the development of clear, cogent and Executive Council / Board level presentation materials that illuminate, support, and explain how the results of a strategic financial scenario analysis affect potential decisions and/or suggest alternative courses of action
- Participating in specialized teams tasked with assessing or executing strategic financial activities (asset sales, mergers/acquisitions, capital markets activities, regulatory initiatives, etc.)
- Offering ideas and suggestions and working to improve or accelerate complex work processes, data management and data integrity
- Support the State Business Services groups’ efforts in creating accurate base forecasts
- Continuously improve UIPlanner financial model to ensure accurate financial forecasting and update it for changes as the external financial landscape evolves
- Developing effective working relationships with employees at all levels of FirstEnergy
- Demonstrating a questioning attitude while maintaining commitment to the overall success of the team
An employee hired at the Analyst III / IV level will be expected to perform all the above responsibilities with more proficiency, and in a more independent manner. Further, the Analyst III / IV level employee will be assigned additional responsibilities related to those above.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline is required. Advanced degree a plus
- Minimum 2 years relevant work experience is required. Relevant work experience includes but is not limited to a working knowledge of reporting and forecasting processes, rate and regulatory filings, accounting, and financial statement analysis.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Word)
- Demonstrate a questioning attitude to learn, produce results and develop relationships
- Proficient with UI Planner and Qlikview applications & a willingness and ability to evolve to an expert level, specifically in UI Planner.
- Strong analytical abilities
- Familiarity with SAP and BW preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication and time management skills
- Ability to deliver quality work products in an environment that often contains ambiguities and is not overly task-oriented
- Ability to use discretion when working with strategic and often confidential financial information
Qualifications at the Analyst III level include all the above plus:
- Minimum 4 years relevant work experience is required. Relevant work experience includes working knowledge of reporting and forecasting processes, rate and regulatory filings, accounting and financial statement analysis.
Qualifications at the Analyst IV level include all the above plus:
- Minimum 7 years relevant work experience is required. Relevant work experience includes working knowledge of reporting and forecasting processes, rate and regulatory filings, accounting and financial statement analysis.
