Summary of Job Duties:

The postdoctoral fellow will be hired in support of the grant “Loops in Coastal Channel Networks: a theoretical, experimental, and field-based investigation of their morphodynamic stability” which was recently funded by the National Science Foundation. The fellow will lead research into fundamental controls on the dynamics and evolution of loops that are frequently present within coastal channel networks. This research will synthesize laboratory experiments (data collection ongoing) and field data (already available) with a theoretical understanding. Comparing field data, experimental data, and theoretical hypotheses will require extensive data analysis and modeling on python or MATLAB platforms. The fellow will collaborate with Geoscience students within the research group, and with a broad group of scientists from many backgrounds (biology, physics) to build a fundamental understanding of looping physics. The fellow will also contribute several student-led research projects on coastal channel networks that are ongoing.

The fellow will travel to meetings to present research in preparation (~1 per year) and will receive professionalization training outlined in a post-doc mentoring plan. The fellow will work together with students and the PI to advance the research program.
