Montgomery County Public Health Dental Program provides essential oral health services to residents, focusing on improving dental health and preventing oral diseases. The program provides dental services, education, and outreach initiatives, particularly targeting low-income and underserved populations. We aim to enhance community health strategies and ensure access to dental care, ultimately fostering better overall health outcomes for the community.

The Dental Principal Administrative Aide is vital to the dental healthcare system, especially in public health settings. Their responsibilities and purpose contribute significantly to the overall efficiency, accessibility, and quality of dental care services. Often, they are the first person patients interact with, shaping their initial impression of the dental practice or clinic. They facilitate positive patient experiences by providing friendly, professional, and empathetic communication. The work supports broader public health objectives such as reducing oral health disparities and improving overall community health. Moreover, handle sensitive patient information per legal and ethical standards, maintaining trust and confidentiality.


Duties and core responsibilities include the following:


  • Provide phone and visitor reception for a dental clinic.
  • Register, schedule, and confirm patient appointments.
  • Greet patients and assist with Medicaid/ sliding Fee Scale issues/inquiries.
  • Queries callers to ascertain the nature of calls, refer to appropriate staff, or respond to callers' needs independently; maintains dental clinic calendars.
  • Ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines and/or demands.
  • Ensure electronic health record (EHR) schedules match dental providers' schedules and staff leave scheduling system.
  • Ensure all patient medical history, and intake forms are completed and scanned into the patient’s record on the same day as the patient’s appointment.
