Why We Need Your Talents:
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for managing the operation of staffing/employment practices and team member relations programs and processes. The Director is hands on and must be able to and perform all the duties and responsibilities of the position. Sets direction and provides coaching to direct reports which consists of HR generalists and employment staff. The Director of Human Resources will report to the Vice President of Human Resources.
Responsibilities
Where You'll Make an Impact:
- Assist with development and management of the budget for the Human Resources Department.
- Assures that all standardized hiring practices are followed in accordance with Federal Department of Wage and Labor for equal opportunity employment.
- Responsible for monitoring new hire orientation, licensing, badging, uniforms, drug testing to include random drug testing. Assures contracts, inventory and purchases are done in a timely manner.
- Supervise the Staffing/Employee Relations Manager with the timely closing of open employment requisitions, scheduling new hires for orientation and follow up with the on-boarding program.
- Responsible for the overall function of the Team Member Relations and Recognition Committee and all special events to include budget guidelines and selection of members.
- Assists with HR strategic planning, review, and management of department metrics and data.
- Direct the process for responding to all unemployment claims and attends hearings as warranted. Audits unemployment quarterly statements and validated changes.
- Assists with EEOC claims and legal claims, employee liability, and law suits.
- Directs an effective process for being the focal point for all issues of team member relations.
- Administer participation of all government programs for tax saving credits and reimbursement. Work with local agencies to access any wage return benefit.
- Review Human Resources project activities with the VP of Human Resources.
- Meet with departmental directors and managers to maintain positive working relationships.
- Assist in training operational leadership in staffing and employee relations activities.
- Assist in Team Member communications, Town Halls, Focus Groups and recognition events.
- Manages programs and processes to reduce and control loss time injuries.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Ability to perform assigned duties under frequent time pressures and in an interruptive environment.
- Knowledge of Alcohol Beverage Control laws, Maryland State gaming and licensing regulations and applicable Health Department regulations.
- Knowledge of labor laws, EEOC/title seven, insurance, and unemployment compensation laws.
- Broad variety of tasks and deadlines requires and irregular work schedule
- Ability to work in an interruptive office environment.
- Ability to stand while training and walk to meetings with Operational Leadership.
Qualifications
Must-Haves:
- Seven (7) to ten (10) years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist is required.
- Experience in the gaming industry is required; experience in the hospitality industry is preferred.
- Three plus (3+) years of experience in managing other people and processes in the human resources function.
- Demonstrated experience as trainer and presenting to others in a professional and effective manner.
- Four (4) year degree in related field or equivalent work experience
- PHR or SPHR preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability and willingness to work an irregular and extended work schedule. Understanding the business is 24/7 and the needs of the business dictate work schedules for the management team as well as others.
