Within DCF, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health (SAMH) Program office is recognized as the single state authority for substance abuse and mental health services. The Office of SAMH is statutorily responsible for the planning, evaluation, and implementation of a comprehensive statewide system of care for the prevention, treatment, and recovery of children and adults with serious mental illnesses or substance use disorders.
North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center (NFETC) is a 216 bed, all male, forensic, mental health rehabilitation facility. The Center is located in northeast Gainesville, Florida on 639 picturesque acres with regular sightings of deer, turkey and other wildlife. NFETC employs a variety of entry level to leadership positions including food service, maintenance, direct care, nurses, counselors, rehab therapists, medical doctors, security, psychiatrists, and psychologists.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:
- This position serves as the Forensic Mental Health Care Risk Manager/Safety Officer and Quality Improvement Director at North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center (NFETC) . This position is highly responsible for the administrative work to reduce, control, or eliminate the possibility of incidents to patients, staff, and visitors at the institution; thereby minimizing financial loss. This is accomplished by assessing, planning, and coordinating responsibilities to prevent or minimize accidental injury, illness, property damage, or other preventable loss or negligent acts. The Risk Manager/Safety Officer is responsible for the overall coordination of the incident reporting system, investigations, and the general liability program for the North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center.
- This is professional work supervising and directing employees. The primary duty of the incumbent in this position is to spend the majority of their time communicating with, motivating, training and evaluating employees, planning and directing their work; and having the authority to effectively recommend actions such as: hire, transfer, suspend, layoff, promote, discharge, assign, and reward or discipline direct reports. Evaluates employees against established standards and takes appropriate actions when necessary (i.e. recognition, reward, corrective action, etc.).
