About the role

Nemours is seeking an Orthotic Tech Sr. (Full-Time) to join our team in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Orthotic Tech Sr. will be responsible for the technical operations and the daily/long-term operations of the Orthotic and Prosthetic department lab. They shall assist in the fabrication, molding, measuring, and fitting of orthotics/prosthetics patients and provide assistance to the CPO/CP/CO. Maintaining the lab material includes managing inventory levels and ensuring our department costs are appropriate This individual will also be responsible for the delivery of care in accordance with Nemours Policies and procedures and promotes a patient and family centered care model.

Duties also include managing the workflow of the milling and carver system. They will learn to manage all aspects of the carver including using modification software and the interface system that controls the fabrication of foam molds. This position will also need to be proficient in documenting in the patient charts while understanding how to correspond with all aspects of the EMR system. 

  • Fill casts and modify molds for fabrication.
  • Manage carver processes and digital modification of foam molds.
  • Clean and shape braces.
  • Repair and modify braces as requested.
  • Prepare molds for pulling and cut the plastics for pulling and/or any digital modification. 
  • Pull plastics.
  • Assist CPO/CP/CO with patient care.
  • Clean lab equipment and assure all equipment is working properly.
  • Responsible for maintenance of all equipment.
  • Maintain clean and orderly lab and exam room.
  • Stock exam room with appropriate medical and clinical supplies
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required. 
  • Minimum (5) five years of experience in modifying plaster molds, pulling plastic, and custom brace design is required. 
  • American Heart Association BLS Certification required. 
  • Certified O and P Assistant, Certified O and P Technician, Certified Pedorthist, Certified Orthotic Fitter preferred.
