About the role

The Team:

Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania’s largest hospital, and the Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit within the RHH is the tertiary referral centre for all cardiothoracic surgery in Tasmania. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions.  All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

Medical and Cancer Services provide contemporary inpatient and outpatient health care services including Cancer Services, Acute Medicine, Subspecialty Medicine (Gastroenterology, Renal, Rheumatology, Neurology, Endocrinology), Respiratory, Ambulatory Care Services and Cardiology.

The CNC Healthcare Redesign provides expert leadership, project management skills and evidence-based health care improvement approaches to improve patient care within MaCS. 

You will need 

  • Highly developed knowledge, skill and expertise in contemporary nursing practices and healthcare redesign methodology, with recent clinical experience, or a demonstrated interest in the Medical and Cancer Services stream. Proven ability to effectively lead healthcare redesign projects and undertake the evaluation of services, with the capacity to review clinical practice policy, procedure, and protocols.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with the demonstrated capacity to build and maintain effective networks and apply negotiation and conflict resolution skills to engage, influence and persuade a broad range of stakeholders. High-level organisational skills, with the ability to problem solve and apply principles of clinical risk management and quality improvement to the clinical setting.
  • Extensive research and analytical skills including the ability to exercise initiative in gathering, preparing, evaluating and interpreting data, reports and submissions.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Postgraduate qualification in clinical redesign or healthcare redesign
