What you’ll do in the role:
- Lead the design and implementation of new features for the myGIO and Welathbooks platform including for the Mobile platform.
- Work closely with business on understanding and brainstorming the GenAI and Agentic usecases for the GIO domain.
- Lead the design and development of the GenAI features
- Lead the effort to modernize many of the modules in the tech stack using tools like Moderne and Copilot.
- Work with vendors to understand some of the tools and solutions
- Mentor junior members of the team
What you’ll bring to the role:
- 7+ years of hands-on application development experience with Java and associated frameworks/technologies.
- Core Java and modern Java capabilities (Java 8/11/17) including Streams, Lambdas, Optional, Date/Time API, and core concurrency concepts
- Strong foundation in Collections, multithreading, exception handling, JVM fundamentals, and performance tuning/optimization considerations
- Extensive experience with the Spring ecosystem, including: Spring Framework (4/5) and Spring Boot
- Building RESTful APIs/services using Spring MVC/REST, including input validation, centralized exception handling, and use of filters/interceptors
- Integrating with external/internal services through REST (exposure to Rest Template/Web Client is a plus)
- Data structures and algorithms, object-oriented modeling, and system design basics
- Secure coding practices and adherence to modern development standards and guidelines
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to improve productivity while ensuring code quality, readability, and adherence to engineering standards.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $120,000 and $165,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
