Revenue Accounting Director

Mimecast is looking for a Director, Revenue Accounting, to join the global corporate accounting and reporting team reporting to the Director of Accounting, International. This role requires strong system experience with NetSuite and SFDC to enable and optimize the back-end requirements of our ongoing GTM transformation initiatives as well as scaling of our financial accounting systems. This role requires strong communication and project management skills serving as a primary liaison between revenue accounting and other business functions including sales/channel operations, digital business innovation (IT), service delivery, commercial finance, financial operations, legal and FP&A among others. Additional responsibilities include supporting our local revenue accounting teams in the global revenue close, managing our ASC606 policy, optimizing global process and control consistency across our regional revenue accounting teams.

• Reporting to the Senior Director, Customer Finance Operations, Based in Lexington
• Individual contributor role
• Main contact point for ASC606, Revenue Recognition - interpretations, and analysis
• SSP/Customer benefit period and Material right analysis
• Monthly/Quarterly global revenue close reviews/controls
• Communicating changes in application of policy to regional revenue accounting teams
• Administer global training programs on revenue recognition within and outside of finance
• Liaison with sales operations, commercial finance and legal on significant deals/non-standard terms
• Lead SME for ASC606 and collaboration with finance operations teams and systems projects
• Liaison with external auditor
• Lead for order to cash aspects of any buy and sell side due diligence for M&A
• Lead a number of Customer Finance Operations transformation projects
• Create and present revenue analytics and executive level reporting
• Adopt Advance Revenue Module system for accounting, and roll out globally

Candidate Profile/Qualifications

• CPA qualified
• Minimum 7 years’ experience
• Listed company or large private equity experience
• In depth technical knowledge of ASC606 and practical application
• Interest in the technology/cybersecurity industry and high growth technology
• Ability to interpret and apply ASC606 guidance to commercial objectives and business models
• Ability to multitask and work effectively, independently and in teams, ensuring timely completion of assignments and meeting established standards
• Experience with SFDC and Netsuite, including ARM (essential)
• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact in a professional manner with senior level managers, peers, and business partners.
• Excellent working knowledge in Microsoft Excel
