Your Impact:

Handshake is building a diverse team of dynamic engineers who value creating a high-quality, high-impact product. We are looking for a Cloud Engineer who is well versed in building and designing a cohesive self-service platform for our product engineering team. You'll be working with the Infrastructure team whose goal is to build a secure, reliable platform for our engineers.

Your Role:

• Contribute to the design and deployment of enterprise-wide scalable, highly available, reliable and secure platforms and architecture on GCP

• You will build in-house capabilities to empower engineers to provision infrastructure at scale

• Develop and automate Terraform modules

• Build and manage our Kubernetes clusters

• Build strong tools foundations with an eye for technical excellence

• Build and maintain cloud infrastructure

• Lead technical aspects and direction for the team and mentor junior members

You’ll work with these technologies:

• GCP/AWS

• PostgreSQL, Redis, Pub/Sub, Elasticsearch

• Ruby on Rails, Golang

• Terraform

• Kubernetes

Your Experience:

• You are adept with agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles

• You prefer taking projects from inception to completion and are outcome-oriented

• You act with empathy when partnering with fellow engineers and coworkers

• You have 5+ years of experience in building and maintaining cloud-based architectures in AWS and/or GCP

• You have experience with Linux / Unix based operating systems

• You have experience with containerization technologies, especially Kubernetes

• You have Infrastructure networking experience: firewalls, load balancing, DNS, etc.

• You are passionate about building simple and high-quality infrastructure

• You have experience working in distributed, performant, at-scale backend systems

• You have knowledge of securing modern container orchestration systems: e.g. Kubernetes, Mesos, DC/OS, or Swarm

• You are strong in Operations but have passion and knowledge in automation

Compensation Range:

$136,000 - $170,000

For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all U.S.-based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
