As a Medical Receptionist, you'll serve as the vital first point of contact for patients seeking healthcare services, playing a crucial role in connecting them with the medical care they need. This position offers the unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care by managing appointment scheduling through advanced EMR systems. You'll work directly with patients to ensure they receive timely access to medical services, making you an essential part of the healthcare delivery process. This role combines patient service excellence with healthcare technology, allowing you to contribute directly to improved patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for inbound patient calls (90% of call volume)
  

• Schedule patient appointments directly in the Athena EMR system during live calls
  

• Provide real-time scheduling assistance to patients requesting same-day, next-day, or future appointments
  

• Navigate and efficiently utilize electronic medical record systems for immediate appointment coordination
  

• Interact professionally with patients to coordinate appointment times and availability
  

• Deliver immediate scheduling solutions rather than message-taking services
  

• Support clinic workflow by ensuring seamless integration with existing EMR systems
  

Requirements

• Medical field experience strongly preferred
  

• Registered nurse (High Priority but not required)
  

• Experience with Athena EMR system highly preferred (or similar EMR/scheduling platforms)
  

• Excellent communication skills for professional patient interaction
  

• Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining accuracy in system navigation
  

• Strong attention to detail for patient information management
  

• Commitment to patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
  

• Reliable internet connection and quiet workspace for patient calls
  

• Availability to work full-time Eastern Time zone hours
