Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement (VP OIA), the Assistant Vice President for Principal, Planned, and Major Gifts (AVP PPM) serves as a senior leader within the Office of Institutional Advancement. This role is responsible for driving the strategy, execution, and growth of the institution’s major ($25,000+), planned, and principal ($5 million+) gift portfolios. As a key member of the OIA Leadership Team, the AVP PPM will collaborate closely with the VP OIA to establish ambitious yet achievable fundraising goals, implement best-in-class standards for donor engagement, and advance a culture of philanthropy that supports the institution’s long-term strategic priorities.

Responsibilities:

The opportunities and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

• Responsible for major, planned, and principal gift production

• Participate in extensive travel, as required, to meet with and cultivate relations with PPM prospects

• The AVP PPM will architect and implement a robust Office of Planned Giving (OGP) and associated planned giving society for UMBC, including development of best practices, processes and policies and gift vehicles necessary to ensure the OGP’s success. AVP PPM will work with campus-wide and OIA partners to establish and implement brand identity and marketing plan. 

• AVP of PPM will strategize, architect and implement a Principal Giving Program (PGP) within OIA, focused on a highly curated donor experience, cultivation and stewardship  for prospects targeted at a $5million plus solicitation level.  This will include identification, qualification and if necessary removal from the program at the discretion of the University President, AVP PPM,  and VP OIA

• Supervise all associated team members and existing/created sub departments (PPM)

• Along with the VP OIA, will work to develop strategic initiatives for PPM, including marketings, outreach, and programming

• Manage relationship with key campus and academic partners 

• Build and maintain a portfolio of top tier donors as approved by VP OIA and is responsible for management and delivering philanthropy for those donors 

• Set performance metrics for PPM and partner with VP OIA

• Manage budget and oversee strategic plan for PPM

• Establish and enforce operational and process standards for PPM

• Develop and manage reporting for PPM for VP OIA and other audiences as needed

• Other tasks as assigned
