The role reports directly to the M&A Accounting Manager and provides transactional support to the M&A Accounting team. It includes the preparation of journal entries, analysis of account reconciliations, sources and uses of cash, analysis of seller accounts receivable and roll forwards, inventory and orders in transit, as well as deal-related liabilities. The role is heavily focused on the review and reconciliation of practice-level accounts, supporting banking needs, preparing deferred purchase price release agreements, and assisting with other special projects, analysis, or accounting responsibilities as needed.
- Prepare monthly journal entries related to acquisitions and assigned accounts while maintaining accurate supporting documentation and ensuring timely submission
- Collaborate with the General Ledger team on additional analysis and review of financials
- Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies; review with M&A Accounting team and other managers and propose adjustments as appropriate
- Support the M&A Accounting team by maintaining the various checklists and schedules for the Deal Transaction Logs to ensure accurate tracking for all transactions
- Assist with preparing files and uploading documents to the valuation and tax firms
- Assist the Corporate Treasury department with review and confirmation of amounts that are to be transferred from seller bank accounts to the corporate bank accounts, as approved by M&A Accounting Manager
- Allocate and reconcile practice-level transactions, reconcile the bank account(s) by acquisition and resolve discrepancies. Complete reconciliation for review with M&A Manager to be presented to the seller.
- Collaborate closely with the Accounts Payable reimbursement team to review seller expenses to ensure complete reconciliation in the Due from Seller and bank account reconciliation process
- Prepare schedules requested for annual and interim financial audits for review
- Assist staff, management, and internal/external partners with issues resolution
- Ad-hoc special projects as may be assigned
- Undergraduate degree (B.S. or equivalent) in Accounting
- Minimum 3 years accounting experience
- CPA / CPA eligible or equivalent a plus
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups and handling large amounts of data) required
- Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills with the ability to summarize complex financial information
- Familiarity with the processes, concepts, methods, and tools for maintaining accurate and thorough records of financial transactions
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook) with the ability to quickly learn and use job-specific computer programs
- Strong organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable working in a high volume, data-intensive environment
- Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner
