The Director of Housekeeping and Laundry (HKL) leads and directs a geographically diverse team of hourly and salaried employees, overseeing optimal staffing levels and ensuring adherence to corporate policies, procedures, and relevant government regulations. This key leadership position collaborates with internal and external stakeholders across federal, state, and local levels, offering expert guidance on HKL strategy, planning, staffing, training, budgeting, and policy development. Additionally, this role is accountable for leading and directing cross-functional teams and developing their department leaders by mentoring, coaching, and delivering performance feedback relevant to the organization’s business objectives to establish a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
Essential Functions:
- Lead and direct the establishment of HKL operations for all sites in accordance with the facility's policy and procedures and ensure safety standards and customer expectations are met
- Work closely with DS Procurement and Vendor Relations to manage new and existing vendor relationships by supporting negotiation to secure competitive pricing for products and services and ensuring their adherence to all policies, procedures, and regulations
- Communicate with other departments to ensure coordination and smooth operations across the organization
- Serve as the leading technical expert in program implementations
- Ensure all activities comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Monitor the overall effectiveness of operational processes and ensure that all training complies with corporate policy and contract deliverables
- Identify possible program improvements, make recommendations, and prepare documents that outline program changes and budgetary reasons
- Coordinate and collaborate with DS Training & Leadership Development to facilitate and implement training content and certification requirements
- Perform routine facility inspections and quality assurance audits to monitor and detect potential safety, health, and environmental hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols
- Maintain compliance with corporate policies, industry standards, and government regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant industry software systems
- In-depth knowledge of state and federal health, safety, and regulatory standards related to housekeeping and laundry services
- Understanding of OSHA Hazardous chemicals standards
- Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, laundry operations, and industry best practices
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels within the organization
- Excellent Communication skills
- Ability to interpret and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations
- Excellent Customer Service skills, able to proactively meet the needs of internal and external customers and provide best-in-class customer service
- Must be a skilled leader with the ability to motivate and develop teams

- Ability to work flexible hours in a 24/7/365 business environment
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred; related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
- Ten-plus years' experience and five-plus years in a leadership role
- Three to five years of HKL management experience in both public and private sectors
- Experience working with law enforcement and first responders is a plus
- Experience working with federal agencies such as the Federal Aviation Administration, Transportation Administration, U.S. Department of Homeland, Customs & Border Protection, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation is preferred
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must be able to travel within the Continental United States (CONUS)
