Job Summary:
We are seeking an Assistant Controller with strong cost accounting expertise to drive our financial operations. In this role, you'll oversee financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, and internal controls, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy and operational efficiency.
If you have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA/CMA preferred) and 5+ years of experience in cost accounting, financial analysis, or controlling, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics (D365) and advanced Excel skills are essential.
Financial Management & Reporting:
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closing processes
- Prepare and review financial statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies
Cost Accounting & Analysis:
- Manage and analyze cost structures, including raw materials, WIP, and finished goods
- Conduct variance analysis and recommend cost-saving initiatives
- Perform project analysis (EAC review, margin analysis) and prepare forecasts
Internal Controls & Audits:
- Maintain and improve internal controls and policies to ensure financial accuracy
- Lead internal audits and support external audit processes
Inventory & Asset Management:
- Oversee quarterly inventory assessments and cycle counts
- Support inventory E&O processes, collaborating with operations to enhance accuracy
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial models for strategic planning
- Provide financial analysis to support decision-making and project assessment
Compliance & Special Projects:
- Ensure compliance with the Safe Explosives Act (2003) as per ATF regulations
- Lead or support special financial projects as needed by management
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA or CMA certification is preferred
- Experience & Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting, financial analysis, or controlling
- Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics (D365) and advanced Excel (pivot tables, formulas)
- Experience with Cognos or Power BI is a plus
- Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting standards
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
- Physical Demands:
- Primarily a sedentary role (90% sitting)
- Occasional standing, walking, and lifting (up to 10 lbs unassisted; up to 50 lbs with assistance)
- Vision requirements include close vision and focus adjustments for computer work
- Work Environment:
- Occasional exposure to mechanical parts, airborne particles, chemicals, and explosives
- Moderate noise levels; ear protection may be required in some areas
