Senior Node.JS Engineer
TheyDoAbout the role
About TheyDo
We’re TheyDo, a fully remote B2B SaaS organisation. Founded in 2019, we are the leading journey management platform, on a mission to make the customer journey the most powerful business tool there is.
In March 2024 we announced our latest funding round worth $34 million. Combined with our Series A raise in 2022 it takes our total investment to just under $50 million. Our angel investors include executives from Intercom, Miro, OpenAI, Amplitude, Slack, Airtable and more.
We support and partner with renowned enterprise organizations such as Cisco, Ford, Johnson & Johnson, Home Depot and Polestar, helping them manage their complex journeys and optimize them for efficient growth, removing the need for constant transformation.
We kicked off 2025 with a global team of 80 TheyDoers, representing over 30 nationalities across 20 countries.
This is just the beginning. Join our exciting journey as we make the Customer Journey the most powerful business tool there is
What you will do:
You like to get things right, a pragmatic perfectionist who will continuously shape our application architecture and make it ready to scale. You understand the right balance between code readability, simplicity, development speed, performance, and maintainability.
Your top priority is to make TheyDo a business-critical platform for our customers, it needs to be embedded in their data stack through many integrations. You'll work on some of the technically ambitious projects we have planned. This includes:
Improving real-time functionality, to create an incredible multiplayer experience.
Work on the AI features that will redefine how our customers manage and uncover insights in their data.
Making retrieval of our data graph performant by optimising queries and introducing caching.
You’ll be working with a modern stack. We love TypeScript and use typed NodeJS codebases with GraphQL, Apollo, AWS, ECS, Postgres, Redis, ElasticSearch, websockets, DDD, and microservices where needed.
You’ll join a cross-functional product team consisting of a PM, designer, and 4-6 engineers. In your work, you’ll be supported by our DevOps, QA, Analytics, and AI teams.
What you won't do:
Standups and get tickets assigned. We believe in self-managed workers who know what to work on next.
Unnecessary meetings. Your focus time is precious to us, and we believe in maximising that and communication in async where possible.
What we’re looking for:
An ambitious engineer with a growth and learning mindset, and with a passion for building performant and scalable systems.
Prior experience building data integrations at scale is a bonus.
An engineer who wants to be at the foundation of a fast-growing team.
A product-minded engineer that wants to understand how people use our product and why.
An asynchronous worker who organises and documents their work.
A clean coder who writes well-structured and maintainable code, through tests and documentation.
