Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Tooling

Assumes technical engineering responsibilities for multiple tooling engineering-related tasks in various assignments within the organization/operation for development of advanced tooling engineering design and assists in the resolution of complex problems.  The Sr. Mfg./Tooling Engineer has a good understanding of the products being engineered, their applications in the industry and how it impacts our business and customers.

Your Day to Day:

• Derive a concept of the tooling item for the scope listed in the TDR (Tool Development Request) and develop detailed design for tooling based on the concept
• Adhere to established machine design guidelines and engineering principles
• Select the proper material for the tooling item based on application and frequency of use
• Create a drawing that fully defines the tooling item and apply the proper Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles as needed
• Identify the critical features of the tooling that require an inspection report
• Implement a design change on an item controlled by Tool and Gage (gages, lift tools, etc.)
• Create test plans for lab testing or simulated production runs for new tooling
• Evaluate the impact of tooling design changes on Safety Significant Controls (SSCs) and Items Relied On For Safety (IROFS)
• Determine if a tool design change will impact an Integrated Safety Analysis (ISA) or Criticality Safety Evaluation (CSE)
• Generate Tool Shop Work Order (TSWO) and route to the TSWO Coordinator in Enovia; Tooling Configuration Control and Drawing Management
• Determine if the new tool is considered non-capital or capital tooling
• Evaluate design changes for interchangeability, Tooling Configuration Control and Drawing Management
• Properly execute ENOVIA to support the Tool Engineer Design process
• Perform supplier evaluations for supplier of tooling items and provide the required information (drawings, sketches, specs, procedures, sole source justification forms) to the supplier and Global Supply Services (GSCS) during the purchase of tooling
• Determine the category of tool cleanliness for an MRO tool and provide the correct Cleanliness Control Card for Tooling Procurement, Cleanliness Control, and Handling
• Provide oversight to the tooling supplier during fabrication and track supplier performance

What you need to be successful at this role:

• 4 Year Engineering Degree, preferably Mechanical Engineering or Westinghouse Equivalent with 10+ years’ experience
• 5 years’ experience
• Using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
