Role Description
Form Energy’s Product and Service team is looking to hire a skilled, entrepreneurial Staff Field Service Engineer to service Form's grid-scale battery deployments. Form is committed to delivering best-in-class service and product reliability for its utility customers. You will be the first Field Service Engineer on the talented and growing Product and Service team within the Commercial Operations group. You will set the foundation for a high standard of excellence for Form’s first commercial deployments and enable Form to scale quickly to deliver large-scale projects. You will lead the diagnosis and resolution of issues within all product areas, including battery modules, auxiliary systems, and balance of plant. You will collaborate closely with the Manufacturing, Product Engineering, and Project Engineering teams to drive rapid resolution of issues and product design improvements. You should be comfortable working in the field, directing Field Service Technicians, and coordinating closely with internal and customer stakeholders. This role will also interface with third-party suppliers of system components such as inverters, transformers, and energy management systems.
What you'll do:
Lead the development and operationalization of preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to maintain warranty coverage
Perform remote diagnostics and troubleshooting of equipment using data acquisition and energy management software
Maintain accurate records of site work performed, including work orders, logs, inventory
Support cross-functional efforts to drive issue resolution with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to contain and prevent recurrence of known issues
Drive the creation and evolution of Product Operations & Maintenance documentation and training materials
Identify improvements to and contribute to product support procedures, training, troubleshooting guides, and other O&M documentation
Establish and maintain superior customer service relationships with internal and external partners
Collaborate with and escalate issues to authorized service providers and subcontractors
Travel to client or project sites 50-70% of the time
What you'll bring:
7-10 years of experience in renewable energy system operational roles
B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
Prior experience with troubleshooting electrical/electronic and mechanical systems
Strong understanding of SCADA communication protocols such as Modbus and DNP3, networking design and operation, energy management systems, battery management systems, and utility relay and metering equipment
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Proven cross-functional leadership and collaboration skills
Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce clear and concise technical documentation
Valid driver’s license
