What you will do:
The Production Manager I manage the daily operations of the Crushing Department including meeting production goals, organization and personnel planning, production reporting and continuous improvement activities while ensuring that safety, quality, environmental protection, and housekeeping standards (5S) are maintained and continuously improved.
- Planning, managing, monitoring, and coordinating processes in the area of responsibility with the goal of continual improvement (quality, safety, environmental protection, productivity, costs)
- Drives the departmental culture in accordance with the Charleston site Principles and Values. Supervision of the Crushing Shift teams performance
- Oversee Team Members scheduling and time management (for example offsetting absences for vacation, illness, shutdowns, maintaining minimal operating personnel)
- Oversee and ensure that production systems and related processes meet changing business needs.
- Promote and execute the departmental training plans in accordance with the training matrices, to achieve the site training compliance goals. Ensuring team members are training and knowledgeable to perform assigned tasks within the department.
- Responsible for RCRA program oversight, manifest completion, and records administration
- Ensures quality is maintained to baselines within department. Manages quality auditing process. Participates in surface metals working groups.
- Conduct Morning Routine Meetings and participate in Production Alignment, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and other meetings as required.
- Communicate work and production requirements under changing premises.
- Coordinate production volumes with down and upstream departments.
- Assure proper disposal of recyclables and waste.
- Monitor and supervise installations; troubleshooting or organizing troubleshooting; coordinating of such with affiliated companies.
- Prepare and supervise routine repairs and maintenance work including major shutdowns; coordination with Engineering; managing inspections and making the installations available for inspections.
- Initiate procurement and monitoring of volume and quality of auxiliary supplies required in the area.
- New installations and process changes: apply operating knowledge to planning and execution; plant safety instructions for construction workers; checks prior to start-up; start-up; initiation to permanent operation.
- Investigate ways to reduce costs while maintaining or improving safety, quality and productivity.
- Perform other duties as required.
What we need from you:
- Internal applicant: Minimum of associate degree in a relevant technical field
- External applicant: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field.
- With bachelor’s degree 5+years relevant experience and 3+ years supervisory experience
- With associate degree: 10+ years of relevant experience of which there is a minimum of 3+ years of supervisory experience.
- Ability to lead and develop unskilled team members working in both manual and highly automated environments.
- Experience in quality-critical industries (automotive, semiconductor)
- Experience with automated manufacturing equipment (robotics, automatic processing equipment, automatic storage/retrieval systems, automatic conveying equipment)
- High awareness of quality, safety and environment protection
- Ability to use computer and MS Office software
