We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Head of HK AI.
Role summary
The Head of HK AI is accountable for accelerating adoption and sustained use of approved AI capabilities across the Hong Kong Pillar, turning Group AI platforms and priority use cases into measurable business outcomes.
The role leads the Hong Kong cross-business mobilisation function that drives demand shaping, rollout, change management, colleague enablement, control embedment, and value tracking for AI initiatives delivered through Value Streams and central platforms.
Accountabilities
- Convert domain priorities into an adoption portfolio of AI deployments across businesses and functions (e.g., Wealth, Commercial, Retail, Operations, Contact Centre).
- Ensure AI solutions land in “real work”: redesigned processes, trained users, updated procedures, measurable usage and service outcomes.
- Establish adoption targets and success measures (usage, productivity, quality, customer/colleague experience).
- Partner with Finance and initiative owners to baseline, track, and reconcile benefits (time saved, error reduction, conversion uplift, risk effectiveness), with evidence that stands up to internal scrutiny.
- Create clear intake, triage, prioritisation and rollout mechanics for business-led AI demand.
- Establish a domain adoption cadence: weekly execution stand-ups, monthly portfolio reviews, quarterly benefits reviews.
- Define and maintain clean RACI across business owners, Value Streams, Technology, Risk/Compliance, and central AI teams.
- Ensure adoption activity conforms to Group standards for safe use, evaluation, monitoring, data handling and tooling.
- Coordinate with second line partners to embed required controls into rollouts (e.g., model risk alignment, privacy, record retention, conduct, third-party and outsourcing considerations).
- Maintain appropriate documentation for adoption decisions, user guidance, and operational readiness (audit support).
- Establish an “AI Champions” network across Hong Kong businesses/functions to accelerate local uptake.
- Promote adoption patterns that support inclusion and accessibility for a diverse workforce.
- Coordinate with Technology/Cyber/Risk on response execution for AI-related incidents impacting customers, colleagues, or control posture.
Skills and experience
Leadership and transformation
- Demonstrable experience delivering cross-functional change at scale in a matrixed organisation (business + technology + risk).
- Strong stakeholder management at senior levels across businesses and control functions.
AI and digital fluency
- Strong AI literacy: ability to engage credibly with specialists on GenAI/LLMs, evaluation approaches, prompt/agent patterns, monitoring and risk controls.
- Practical experience embedding technology into operating processes (SOPs, QA, controls, MI, training, user support).
Risk and controls mindset
- Experience working within regulated financial services control environments.
- Ability to balance speed-to-value with control adherence and operational resilience.
Hong Kong domain context
- Understanding of Hong Kong market dynamics and operating realities.
