Job Description

As a subrogation paralegal, you’ll be at the heart of the litigation process—managing case files, drafting key legal documents, and collaborating with attorneys to prepare for trials, mediations, and settlement conferences. In this role, you will support attorneys by managing subrogation claims from inception to resolution, ensuring efficient recovery on behalf of the company.

This is a unique opportunity to apply your legal skills in subrogation, gain exposure to complex litigation, and work closely with a team that values proactivity and organization. If you're detail-oriented, thrive in a high-volume environment, and want to make an impact, we invite you to apply and be part of our dynamic team!

Key Responsibilities

  • Effectively prioritize and manage a high-volume file count, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal deadlines.
  • Conduct initial file review within a 14-day deadline, ensuring all necessary documentation is collected and organized.
  • Track and adhere to statutes of limitation, particularly in Illinois (Chicago, McHenry, Kane, Winnebago, and Lake counties).
  • E-file legal documents and utilize case management software (TeamConnect preferred).
  • Coordinate service of complaints, including working with sheriffs and understanding county-specific rules.
  • Prepare arbitration packets and necessary legal materials as cases progress.
  • Assist in trial preparation, including drafting statements and compiling necessary documents.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining strong organizational skills.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred.
  • A certificate of completion of a paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association.

Experience

  • 4+ years’ experience as a Paralegal with a focus on civil litigation preferred.
  • Experience managing high-volume caseloads in a fast-paced legal environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with legal procedures, including pleadings, discovery, motions, and court filings.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence.
