Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in all aspects of water and wastewater engineering design.
- Experience should include water transmission and distribution systems, storage tanks, pump stations, sanitary sewer collection systems and lift stations, and trenchless technologies.
- Experience completing master plans and designs.
- Proven increasing responsibility in the preparation of reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for water and wastewater design projects.
- Track record of coordinating effectively with public agency staff and teaming partners on multidiscipline engineering project teams for project delivery.
- Demonstrated experience in internal task management, with a track record of organizing and training junior-level staff on project components.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, communication skills, and ability to work with various teams.
- High degree of functionality in AutoCAD/Civil3D, Water/SewerCAD, and other industry software for designing/managing/modeling water/wastewater systems.
- Familiarity with the procedures and methodologies published in major national guidelines (e.g. American Water Works Association, NPDES & US EPA design standards and guidelines).
- Project experience with local and/or state agencies in Oregon or Washington.
- Experience coordinating surveys, grading, drainage, utilities, environmental, geotechnical, and natural resources as part of projects.
- Proven ability to identify and pursue business development opportunities.
- Experience as a field engineer/inspector on public utility infrastructure projects.
- Confidence in public speaking before audiences of laypersons, stakeholders, team partners, and owners.
- Project Management: Oversee and manage the planning, design, and execution of pump station and pipeline projects. Develop and deliver project scopes, budgets, schedules, and reports, ensuring all project objectives are met.
- Client Relations: Build and maintain strong client relationships by understanding their needs, providing expert guidance, and delivering high-quality service. Manage client communications and expectations throughout the project life cycle. Assist with business development activities.
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical expertise in water and wastewater engineering. Lead the design and review processes, prepare and review technical specifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and addressing technical challenges effectively.
