About the role

Flex is a growth-stage, NYC headquartered FinTech company that is creating the best rent payment experience. It’s hard to believe that it’s 2025 and paying rent on time is expensive, inflexible, and difficult. We’re here to change that! Flex enables our users to pay rent throughout the month on a schedule that better fits their finances and budget. Our mission is to empower as many renters as possible with flexibility over their most significant recurring expense. After deliberately keeping a stealth profile as we built up unprecedented investor support and an enthusiastic user base, we are looking for motivated individuals to help us keep our mission growing. Will you be a part of the team?

About the Role

The Strategy & Operations team serves as the “API” through which company strategy, ways of working, and culture are transmitted to our departments. Your responsibilities will span both departmental strategy and operations, including framework development, project planning, financial modeling, research, and analysis. This role positions you at the very heart of the business, collaborating closely with Strategy & Operations peers, as well as company and departmental leadership. This is an exceptional opportunity for a gritty, entrepreneurial problem solver able to toggle between strategy and execution. This role will provide frequent exposure to Flex Founders and Executive Team, giving hands-on experience of what it takes to lead and operate a world-class consumer fintech.

  • Develop and implement foundational quality measurement frameworks, tracking key engineering health indicators such as bugs, incidents, reliability, and system performance
  • Track and optimize engineering execution, ensuring alignment between technical priorities, business goals, and financial considerations
  • Own the portfolio of engineering initiatives, building visibility around priorities, dependencies, and resource allocation and ensuring tight alignment with the Product organization
  • Improve development workflows, team efficiency, and cross-functional collaboration to help Engineering operate at maximum effectiveness
  • Provide research and analytical decision support, surfacing key trade-offs and recommendations for senior leadership
  • Help shape Engineering org design and hiring strategy, identifying gaps and optimizing team structure to support business needs
  • Drive strategic conversations at the executive level, distilling complex technical progress into clear insights for leadership
  • Continuously seek opportunities to streamline costs, improve infrastructure efficiency, and optimize investments in technology

Who You Are

  • Ideally 5+ years of relevant work experience (e.g., management consulting, technical product management, engineering operations/strategy, start-up role in strategy, biz ops, or chief of staff function)
  • Experience in or exposure to high-growth tech/fintech companies, particularly in engineering-heavy environments
  • Understanding of software development processes, engineering team dynamics, and technical product lifecycles (no coding required, but a strong operational/strategic grasp of engineering is critical)
  • Highly entrepreneurial and adaptable, excited by the challenge of structuring and optimizing fast-moving engineering teams
  • Able to drive results through influence, working across Engineering, Product, Finance, and Executive teams to move initiatives forward
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguous and complex technical problem sets with a structured and analytical approach
