About the role
Spruce Street Compliance is a political compliance firm based out of Washington, DC and Philadelphia, PA. Our firm is committed to supporting progressive causes and candidates nation-wide. This position works directly with clients and helps maintain the smooth operations in-house. This position will report to the COO and President and work in hand with the compliance services team on providing operations services to our clients.
Salary range: $85,000-95,000/annually + generous benefits package including premium health insurance benefits, retirement program, life insurance, and professional development opportunities. This position is an in-person position based in our Washington, DC office.

Responsibilities for Clients and Company
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols
- Help grow the efficiency of existing organizational processes and procedures to enhance and sustain the organization's internal capacity
- Maintain the operational functions of the DC office; ordering supplies, maintaining cleaning schedule, processing incoming mail, processing outgoing mail
- Ensure client operational activities remain on time and within a defined budget
- Track staffing requirements, help with hiring new employees as needed for clientsLead, motivate, and support teams within a time-sensitive and demanding environment
- Conduct budget reviews and report cost plans to upper management
- Work in tandem with Compliance Managers on weekly accounts payable processing to include confirming/assigning entering invoices into accounting software and printing & mailing checks, maintaining vendor W9s, monitoring cash accounts
- On-boarding and off-boarding staff for clients, including i9 verification with eVerify
- Monitor various aspects of an employee’s benefits including 401k, PTO, sick leave, etc.
- Monitor benefits administration for the Firm and our clients and plan renewals
- Develop organizational employee handbook guidance for clients in tandem with client’s needs and client general counsel; project manage finalizing the implementation of the handbooks and syncing policies with payroll vendorWork with Compliance Team on complying with campaign finance, nonprofit and IRS compliance requirements
Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in operations management, business administration, or related field
- 3-5 years proven experience in an operations position in a campaign or nonprofit environment
- Knowledge of general business software and aptitude to learn new applications; proficiency in GSuite and Quickbooks Online
- Experience processing payroll and PTO tracking and maintenance
- Experience administering employee benefits
- Commitment to supporting progressive causes
- Experience with Human Resources is a plus
