Standard work days are M-F, with occasional on-call after hours. This position is expected to work in excess of 40 hours per week during periods of high demand periods.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position requires the individual to troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install HVAC and related equipment as assigned. The individual must also assume day to day coordination of specific agreements or projects as assigned to assure contractual commitments are met in a timely, cost-effective manner.

 

REQUIREMENTS:
  • HVAC Journeyman technician with minimum of 5 years’ commercial experience
  • Excels at troubleshooting HVAC systems, which may include built-up systems, packaged units, pumps, cooling towers, controls systems, chillers, boilers, and air handling systems
  • Universal EPA Certification
  • Possesses a valid driver’s license and maintain an insurable driving record as required by the company’s insurance provider.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job description gives an overview of the overall essential functions, competencies, skills, and abilities for the Service Technician Team Lead role. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned:

 

PORTFOLIO PERFORMANCE:

  • Maintains commercial HVAC systems; ability to complete all tasking and required system readings
  • Troubleshoots and repairs commercial HVAC systems; ability to conduct point-by-point troubleshooting to find faults/failures, identify the proper fix, complete the repair, and put system back in service
  • Audits required scope (PM or repair) prior to start of work and understands the desired outcome and resources required to achieve it
  • Provides input and actively participates in regular meetings regarding the portfolio; includes PM status/backlog, T&M backlog, open projects, customer relations, and other matters affecting portfolio performance
  • Stays in regular contact with dispatch to understand and prioritize client requests and contractual obligations
  • Provides sales personnel with leads and alerts the team (sales and ops) about competitive sales efforts
  • Reviews APR, PM backlog, T&M backlog, and CARE reports with Supervisor

 

CUSTOMER SERVICE:

  • Ensures customer concerns are responded to quickly and efficiently while building and maintaining customer confidence
  • Influences and drives customer satisfaction with proper judgment; escalates issues appropriately when emergencies arise to ensure customers’ needs are met from all levels of the organization
  • Effectively communicates relevant information to customers regarding their systems, regardless of the customer’s level of technical knowledge
  • Gives assurance to customer that the problem is fixed, explaining cause and remedy; and if problem has not been fixed offer explanation of situation and suggest next steps
  • Persuades customer to replace obsolete systems and approve recommended repairs/upgrades
  • Consistently checks system operations and safety controls before leaving jobsite
  • Communicates arrival and departure with customer representatives
  • Promptly and accurately completes all required paperwork including service reports daily
  • Obtains customer signature on all service reports, as required
  • Communicates and tactfully offers suggestions if systems problems are caused by the customer
  • Keeps supervisor and manager informed of news, changes, or customer complaints
