Overview
The Department of Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose and Throat or ENT) at Children's Mercy provides expert care for children with all types of ear, nose/sinus, and airway problems. Our team of physicians, advanced practice nurses, and support staff are always ready to help families. The ENT team works closely with many other specialists--including those in Audiology, Speech Pathology, Pulmonology, Gastroenterology and Respiratory Care--to meet patient's needs.
This role will directly support the Ear Tubes Program to assist with establishing and growing this program. This RN would collaborate regularly with members from Communication and Marketing, Provider Relations, Surgery Scheduling, and ENT clinic. This RN would be directly involved and be the main point of contact for questions/scheduling/follows up related to patients who need ear tubes. This RN would be responsible for addressing patient referrals, scheduling clinic appointments, ensuring timely OR scheduling, providing resources and support to families pre and post op, responding to messages and inquiries related to the ear tubes procedure, and assisting in clinic as needed.

Responsibilities
- Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a comprehensive plan of care for the patient/family which promotes optimal patient outcomes.
- Serves as a clinical resource for the education and consultation needs of the health care team.
- Meets the educational needs of patient/family, utilizing principles of teaching/learning.
- Supports program and services
- Participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement activities.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree ADN Required.
- Current employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role. and
- 1-2 years experience Pediatric nursing experience or
- Current employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role. and
- Bachelor's Degree BSN Preferred for all nurses hired after September 1, 2013.
- Nurses hired after this date without a BSN must complete their degree within 5 years of their hire date.
- and 1-2 years experience Pediatric nursing experience
- Nurses hired after this date without a BSN must complete their degree within 5 years of their hire date.
- One of the following required upon hire:
- Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas
- Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri
- Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
- Specialty Certification relevant to unit’s patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred
