About the Role:
- We are looking for a hardworking Staff Technical Program Manager to drive strategy and execution for driving our top-line metrics within AI
- The Cruise AI department owns the Perception and Prediction stack to help see and understand the world around our vehicles and enable safe and comfortable navigation using AI & Machine Learning
- These teams work closely with Robotics Planning teams to deliver behavior impact on the car
- Cruise's AI/ML Infrastructure teams work across our Data and ML Platform, ML Accelerator, and applied teams to deliver the tools that enable rapid experimentation, which empower our teams to develop, optimize and release pioneering algorithms to the road safely
What you’ll be doing:
Planning
- Drive agile planning frameworks that optimize work that should be agile vs planned
- Partner with Technical Product Managers to turn requirements and technical specs into achievable implementation roadmaps, including planning timelines and landmarks and identifying cross-team dependencies
- Work with Engineering Managers to ensure teams take on a balanced assignment of critical initiatives, iterative improvements, and proactive engineering excellence investments
- Support calculation of team capacity vs estimated workload, and ensure the team can deliver on their commitments
Execution
- Ensure smooth execution of programs and continuously improve execution over time
- Promote quality communication within the Technical Program Management group to effectively complete, filter, summarize reporting across the department to resolve, call out issues, and celebrate wins
- Lead and improve multi-functional planning and execution processes for other Technical Program Managers to follow and clarify critical issue paths for execution decisions
- Responsible for instrumenting monitoring to measure group efficiency and effectiveness
- Establish confidence from partner teams to continuously minimize distractions or conflicts and push groups to improve their output
Technical
- Use technical judgment in working with large, cross engineering teams to track dependencies and risks optimally
- Work with Technical Leads on design decisions, and chip into the department design reviews to ensure we continue to raise our technical standards and build scalable and robust technical solutions
What you must have:
- Bachelors, Masters, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar technical field
- 5+ years of technical industry experience, including as a Technical Program Manager or equivalent technical leader
- Proficient with Agile methodologies and JIRA based program management tools and standard methodologies
- Experience improving and delivering reliable software through continuous integration, automated testing, and code review decision-makers
The salary range for this position is $161,500 - $237,500. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
