The Role

As a Senior Platform Server Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in our technology transition, steering us from legacy systems to more modern, efficient approaches. This isn't an entry-level or managerial role; we're looking for a senior-level individual contributor who can bring a unique blend of skills and expertise to our team.

Responsibilities

• Lead the modernization of our infrastructure, focusing on live server architecture and efficient technology transition.
• Collaborate with server engineering teams to design and build scalable services for our multiplayer games.
• Operate and maintain live services for multiple studio titles, moving operations work off of game teams and onto the platform team.
• Provide strategic insights for operational efficiency gains, infrastructure best practices, and live-ops methodologies.
• Implement and iterate on reusable systems that drive game features.
• Write and maintain quality, readable code.
• Collaborate with game teams to bring our work to life.

Requirements

• 5+ years experience in Java.
• Experience in scripting languages like Python or JS.
• Docker expert, hands-on experience with Kubernetes.
• Deep knowledge of data structures, algorithms and design patterns and how to apply them to the problem at hand.
• Fluent in secure, scalable HTTP API design and development.
• Experience with database design and scaling for write-heavy workloads.
• Experience operating production services in AWS or another cloud environment.
• Ability to identify and correct performance bottlenecks on a live system.
• Solid understanding of Linux.
• Understanding of and interest in free-to-play and web3 game development.
• Curiosity that drives you to continually learn new things.

Nice to Have

• Experience with DynamoDB or other NoSQL distributed databases at scale.
• EKS expertise.
• Fluency in Go or Rust.

Salary Range: $120,000 to 210,000

The suggested salary bracket is designed specifically for this open position within the United States. It may not be suitable for other roles or locations. The exact pay will be tailored to factors like the hired individual's experience, their job performance, and the job's location. There is also the possibility for additional bonus pay, but this isn't guaranteed.
