IMEG is growing, and we’d love to have you join our team! We are currently seeking a Senior Controls Designer in our Omaha, NE office. As a Senior Controls Designer you will work with our highly experienced team of professional engineers, controls specialists, and facility experts to optimize HVAC systems for performance and energy efficiency. Common responsibilities include testing and operating system equipment and automation controls in a variety of facility types, lead design for moderate to complex projects with limited support from senior staff for the delivery of larger and high complexity projects. Additional responsibilities will include working within the project’s monetary budget, assisting in training and mentoring efforts, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Investigate existing controls and improve graphics and programming for consistency;
- Integrate building equipment and legacy controllers using LonWorks, BACnet, Modbus, and third-party protocols;
- Program and test DDC control sequences based on engineered drawings;
- Confirm BAS program operation by conducting tests and modifying program sequences to meet project objectives;
- Communicate and work with staff, stakeholders, contractors, and sub-contractors as necessary for successful project delivery;
- Inspect and test HVAC equipment and components for operational integrity;
- Identify deficiencies and manage their resolution;
- Conduct remote monitoring of equipment operations;
- Perform minor troubleshooting and repair;
- Support commissioning operations;
- Engineer, design and draft control drawings for BAS systems;
- Review and approve shop drawings and submittals;
- General problem solving;
- Other duties as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Adept in the technical aspects of one’s discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency in electrical and controls systems; experience designing and producing BAS control drawings;
- Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others;
- Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise;
- Ability to sell work and develop client relationships;
- Strong training and mentoring skills;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups;
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment;
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills;
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Education and experience:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required;
- 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in commercial and/or institutional HVAC and building automation controls;
