As the Director, Financial Operations at Sugar, you are entrusted with the pivotal role of steering our accounting operations. Your primary mission is to support the VP Finance in sculpting organizational strategies that align with our overarching corporate goals. This role is hands-on and focuses on crafting scalable business processes for global accounting operations. Key to your role is the dual responsibility of implementing new systems/processes and refining existing ones. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the precision and efficiency of our month-end close processes. Moreover, you're expected to be a catalyst for innovation, constantly seeking ways to enhance our overall accounting processes. At Sugar, we're on a rapid growth trajectory, demanding a high-energy, results-driven individual. Your success in this role will hinge on your proven track record in people development, adeptness at managing multiple priorities, and your ability to exercise sound judgment in complex scenarios. The role calls for a clear communicator, a proactive problem solver, and an individual capable of delivering exemplary results consistently. Your background should reflect significant experience in both public and private sectors, ideally with management responsibilities. In this role, you'll be reporting directly to the VP Finance, playing a critical part in our journey forward.

Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership in Accounting Operations: Spearhead the transformation of our core accounting processes and systems, encompassing Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Treasury, International Accounting, and Payroll.
- Financial Reporting Oversight: Ensure our monthly closing process provides timely, accurate reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. This includes account reconciliations, journal entry processes, and assembling a comprehensive monthly close package.
- Audit Management: Assist the accounting team on our external audit process, drafting financial statements and detailed footnote disclosures.
- Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with external partners to ensure adherence to all pertinent local, state, federal, and international reporting and filing regulations.
- Innovative Practices in Accounting: Champion the adoption of best practices to align accounting operations with the company's growth trajectory.
- Seamless Integration of Acquisitions: Ensure a swift and efficient incorporation of acquisitions into accounting operations and financial reporting systems.
- System and Process Optimization: Lead the enhancement of our accounting systems and methods to foster efficient and effective processes.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Engage actively with internal business partners to support daily operations and propose pragmatic solutions tailored to our business needs.
- Policy Development: Work in tandem with the VP Finance to establish and maintain Sugar’s financial accounting policies and standards.
- Special Projects: Participate in and contribute to special projects and system improvements as delegated by the VP Finance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA license is a plus.
- Over 12 years of relevant experience, particularly in managing accounting for international subsidiaries.
- Experience with major ERP systems, preferably NetSuite.
