About the role

The Director of Analytics & Insights is responsible for the DIRECTV go-to-market ad sales narrative, marketplace intelligence, consumer insights, and viewership analytics. The position requires a deep understanding of the competitive marketplace, complexities related to quantitative and qualitative research study design, vendor management, analysis, and positioning which informs our sales, marketing, and communications teams.

The Director is also responsible for driving visibility of impactful research and insights through internal media placements, sponsored, etc. This includes newsletters distributed to Sales, Sales Support, and Research teams, sponsored media placements, speakerships and webinars (e.g., Beet.TV, Adweek), earned media placements, press exclusives and coverage on outlets such as Broadcasting & Cable, MediaPost, AdAge, etc.), and owned media placements including thought leadership featured on https://directvadvertising.com/.

This role requires the cultivation of relationships across the DIRECTV Enterprise to inspire action and collaboration in support of ad sales strategies.

  

Here’s what you’ll do:

30% Go-To-Market Narrative | Marketing Insights, Narrative Development

  • Synthesize internal reporting and insights by orchestrating cross-functional collaboration across the enterprise.
  • Author thought leadership pieces and byline reports.
  • Disseminate strategic findings across key teams.
  • Oversee the management of the research hub on the intranet and monitor research mentions in external publications, including sponsored media placements and speakerships.
  • Leverage 1P and 3P data to fortify GTM positioning.
  • Craft and collaborate on the design of high-impact deliverables.
  • Deliverables: Quarterly newsletter, subscription trends report, weekly PR team call, quarterly cross-research council meetings, ad hoc category insights, support on speakerships and presentations.

20% Custom Research Center of Excellence | Ideation & Execution

  • Spearhead the development, writing, and programming of questionnaires.
  • Direct the creation of discussion guides.
  • Lead the vendor feedback process to ensure alignment and quality.
  • Command the design and execution of final reporting.
  • Transmit key insights across teams.
  • Initiatives: Monthly surveys via Suzy, bi-annual brand tracker, annual industry survey, quarterly community activation, surveys for Go Addressable, and other ad hoc research projects.

20% Insights Consulting

  • Advise sales teams with tailored insights and positioning strategies.
  • Consult with enterprise teams (e.g., corporate strategy, DTV marketing, content) on ad-related initiatives.
  • Guide brand lift team in positioning results and developing compelling narratives.

20% Team Leadership, Management & Development

  • Cultivate and retain a high-performing team of top-tier talent.
  • Inspire the team to innovate in research, enhance data analysis, and refine technical skills and storytelling.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive team learning agendas.
  • Represent DIRECTV Advertising on industry Boards/Associations (e.g., ARF Research Council, IAB Research Council, CIMM).

10% Partner Relationship Management to Maximize Efficiency of Partnerships across DIRECTV Enterprise

  • Drive cross-functional efforts to onboard new vendors – focusing on market research.
  • Lead contract negotiations to secure favorable terms.
  • Strategize partnership agreements, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals.
  • Capitalize on vendor partnerships for strategic counsel and actionable insights.
  • Key Partnerships: Suzy, Advertiser Perceptions, MAGNA.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Advertising, or Marketing.
  • 5 – 7 years of experience in advertising, project management, or vendor management in a high-growth, challenging environment.
  • Highly organized with strong vendor and project management skills, and an ability to multi-task.
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to craft and confidently deliver compelling reports and presentations to internal and external audiences.
  • Creative analytical person and ability to proactively anticipate and mitigate risks.
  • Experience working cross-functionally and managing varied workstreams.
